DiSIA-Lab provides a high-performance computing infrastructure for research, innovation and technology transfer activities.
The services are available to units of the University of Florence and to external organisations, including public bodies, non-profit organisations and private companies requiring advanced computational resources for data processing, numerical simulations, Artificial Intelligence applications and High-Performance Computing (HPC) activities.
DiSIA’s advanced computing infrastructure currently includes:
- 2 Lenovo ThinkSystem SR950 servers, with 6 TB of DDR4 memory and a total of 192 cores across 8 sockets (Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8260 @ 2.40 GHz), providing approximately 6 TB of usable disk space.
- 1 Supermicro server, with 2.25 TB of DDR5 memory and 192 cores across 2 sockets (AMD EPYC 96-Core 9654 @ 2.40 GHz), providing approximately 15 TB of usable disk space.
- 1 Supermicro server, with 64 cores across 2 sockets (AMD EPYC 32-Core 9354 @ 3.25 GHz), 768 GB of DDR5 memory, 3 NVIDIA L40S GPUs and approximately 15 TB of usable disk space.
- 1 QCT QuantaGrid S74G-2U server, equipped with NVIDIA Grace Hopper GH200 architecture and approximately 6 TB of usable disk space.
The infrastructure is also supported by dedicated business-continuity and power-reliability systems, including a 20 kVA APC Smart-UPS RT uninterruptible power supply and a 60 kVA CGM 60F generator.
Fees
University of Florence units
Use of the resources is free of charge, subject to infrastructure availability and compliance with the Department’s internal policies.
Public bodies and non-profit organisations
- €0.05–€0.10 per core-hour;
- €1.00–€2.00 per GPU-hour.
Companies and for-profit organisations
- €0.10–€0.20 per core-hour;
- €2.00–€5.00 per GPU-hour.
